Harmony Grove has an excellent team of professionals who specialize in the eating disorder field with many years of experience helping clients through this challenging time. Clients who receive anorexia and bulimia help through our program are very impressed with the quality of our team. We have the heart and passion to help others overcome disordered eating behaviors. Medical Director:

Dr. Joseph Mawhinney, MD
Dr. Mawhinney is a Board Certified psychiatrist who practices in San Diego, California. Dr. Mawhinney graduated with an MD 44 years ago. He has been helping people with eating disorders for many years.

Founder:

Laurie Daily-Murphy, CEDS, CHT
Laurie is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist with 16 years of her own recovery from eating disorders. Laurie has worked extensively in the eating disorder field for over 9 years. She has coached many to health and wellness.
Laurie worked at Gurze Books for over 6 years and was the Assistant to the Editor for Eating Disorders: The Journal of Treatment and Prevention as well as the Web Marketing Director for Bulimia.com. At Gurze there is a wealth of knowledge on eating disorders as well as the latest research findings. Laurie had the most recent information at her fingertips. Laurie has also had articles published in the Eating Disorders Today and in the Gurze eNews.

As a member of the National Eating Disorders Association and the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals, Laurie has attended and been a guest speaker at many professional conferences.

Laurie is also a professional singer who has dedicated her music to recovery. She has released two CD’s. The most recent “I Wanna Live!” was co-written with a producer from Los Angeles who has played on many popular tracks. She has inspired many through her music and message to find a life free from the obsession of food. Laurie has performed nationwide at colleges and conferences singing and sharing her story of hope and healing.
In an effort to help others recover and live their dreams, Laurie has created Harmony Grove. There is a tremendous need for low-cost anorexia and bulimia treatment alternatives. Laurie combines her education, personal experience, and empathetic heart to inspire others to find inner harmony and grow within.

Mollie Coughlin, MFT, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS)
Mollie Coughlin is a state licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and our clinical director. She has devoted her career to providing comprehensive supportive care and recovery to people suffering from various forms of disordered eating. Mollie understands the struggle of living with unhealthy eating patterns and how this affects all aspects of daily living. She is passionate about restoring quality of life and freedom from ED obsessions to those that she has the honor of working with on their journey to recovery.
Mollie is a member of the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (CAMFT) and a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP)

Therapist:

Heather Pierson, MFT
Heather is a licensed Marriage and Family therapist, specializing in treating Eating Disorders and Trauma. She draws on her years counseling survivors of sexual trauma and facilitating groups at a rape crisis center, her work as a group and individual therapist in residential and day treatment eating disorder programs and her own personal experiences of healing. She strongly believes that everyone deserves and is capable of recovery and will not give up hope for her clients. Her approach is non-judgmental and compassionate combining mindfulness and mind/body modalities, narrative theory, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy to empower her clients in reconnecting to their healthy self. Heather is a member of the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (CAMFT), a Certified Rape Crisis Advocate (RCA), and is trained in both Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).

Therapist:

Jamie Rattner, MFT Trainee
Jamie Rattner is certified in both Expressive Arts Therapy and Transpersonal Studies from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. She is currently continuing her training through Pacifica Graduate Institute in order to complete licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist with an emphasis in Depth Psychotherapy. Her bachelor’s degree is from the prestigious Berklee College of Music and she persists in using music, movement, active imagination, and creative symbolism in her work with eating disordered women in both residential and outpatient settings. Jamie’s theoretical approaches include the family systems and feminist schemas of psychotherapy. Jamie is a member of the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists

Dietitian:

Heather Waldie, RDHeather Waldie
Heather Waldie is a Registered Dietitian in nutrition counseling for people suffering from eating disorders. She is the founder of National Nutrition Consultants. Heather graduated from San Diego State University in 2003 after completing a Bachelor’s of Science in Food and Nutrition and Dietetic Internship.  She has an extensive and diverse nutrition background and has been providing nutrition support through individualized meal planning for over 5 years.  Heather is  passionate about helping others overcome their eating disorder by incorporating a healthy balance between food and fitness into their lives.

Expressive Arts Therapist:

Francine Hoffman, M.A.
Francine is an Expressive Arts Therapist in incorporates dance, drama, music, visual arts, and poetry into helping women find their authentic selves. She is an intuitive and versatile educator/therapist with over thirty years in the wellness and healing industries.

Housing Staff:

Jolie has a background in behavioral counseling. She is a tough cookie who keeps the house in line and the program running smoothly. But she also has a compassionate heart and great solutions to problems that arise.Her interest in eating disorders is that sadly her best friend died from bulimia several years ago. Now she is helping women find health and happiness.

More Housing Staff :

Our supportive living residence is staffed with caring women, many who have found recovery from eating disorders themselves and desire to give back to others. Some of the housing staff are Masters level therapists or interns who have training in the field of eating disorders. To the right are a few of the women who work at the house. They are warm, caring, and compassionate and always available to lend a hand if someone is struggling.
